June 2015 - International show Slovakia, Nitra
After an unsuccessful club show in Dětřichov, we needed to work on Cir's presentation in the ring. To gain more experience we contacted handling trainer Alžběta Švějdová, who has been involved in handling for more than twenty years. We welcomed the individual approach and spent the following two weeks in intensive training. Before leaving we felt we had done the maximum we could.
On 6 and 7 June 2015 an international dog show took place in Nitra, Slovakia. The journey was long, but the weather was kind to us. We arrived a day early to explore the grounds and do a little training directly at the venue. By coincidence Adis and Sam from Radka Navrátilová also came to the show, and we thank them for their help and willingness during training.
On the sunny Saturday we headed to Agrokomplex with great expectations, where around 1,500 dogs had gathered. The temperature climbed to almost 30°C, which influenced both the handlers and the dogs. Nervousness was rising. The five-minute wait before Cir entered the ring unsettled him a little. Then the moment came: we ran into the ring and waited to see whether he would stay or run away. On the command *stand* he remained in place and showed he had to be taken seriously. The hard training paid off. The heeling was not perfect and, as the exhibitor, I would only give myself a five out of ten, but it was still a major improvement. He let the judge check his teeth and testicles without a problem and received the CAC from judge Mr. Havelka. A duel with Adis for CACIB followed. There the quality of Adis's handling by Jirka showed and he deservedly took the title. We received res.CACIB.
The second day followed in a similar way. It was not quite as good, but we still managed to secure another CAC. And Holly? For now she is simply gathering experience so that she can join these shows in the future.
